This event also commemorates the launch of an online exhibit featuring an oral history project conducted by the LGBTQ+ Oral History Digital Collaboratory. The exhibit contains a series of oral history interviews conducted with seven activists who played a key role in the re-listing of coverage for gender confirmation surgeries under the provincial healthcare plan in 2008. Coverage for these procedures had been removed by the Progressive Conservative government in 1998, leading to a new wave of transgender activism and organizing in the province of Ontario. The online exhibit will be made available online on The ArQuives’ digital collections page after the event.
