group photo of 2017 guardians of the archives Supporters of The ArQuives gathered at the City of Toronto Archives April 20 to listen to John Lorinc, editor of “Any Other Way: How Toronto Got Queer,” talk about the transformation of Toronto by queer communities. The occasion was the annual Guardian Event, held to recognize and celebrate the support and commitment of our most generous donors. Any other way - how Toronto got queerGuardians are those individuals and organizations who generously commit at least $1,000 annually to ensure that the Archives can continue to cover the operational expenses necessary to acquire, preserve, organize and give public access to LGBTQ2+ stories – our treasures – for generations to come. Established in 1973, The ArQuives is the largest independent organization of its kind in the world and we champion the need for an independent repository of our history, our stories and our records.
