Would you like to help guide The ArQuives in the development of a museum? The ArQuives is pleased to announce the founding of The ArQuives Museum Advisory Committee (AMAC).
The AMAC is a volunteer committee established to advise and assist The ArQuives on the development of policies, programs, and to act as public advocates in support of The ArQuives mandate to collect, preserve, and give public access to LGBTQ2+ history in Canada.
Anyone who wishes to join the committee is requested to submit an online application detailing their interest in joining the AMAC. Members of AMAC will represent the voices of the communities that make up the LGBTQ2+ community. In addition to attending meetings four times a year, members will be responsible for engaging with their communities and sharing feedback about the development process.
Selected applicants will be invited to interview with staff and volunteers of The ArQuives, who will select the initial members of the committee. Applicants will be selected for interviews based only on the information provided in their application. Committee members will be selected on the following criteria:
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Familiarity with trends in accessibility, anti-oppression, and decolonial practices
- Ability to think creatively and flexibly
- Be able to dedicate time to prepare for meetings, including reading papers and networking
The ArQuives staff and volunteers will consider the group as a whole in order to reflect its goal of representing a diverse body of community members. Please note that previous experience working in libraries, archives, and museums is not a requirement but would be considered an asset.
