We are happy to announce that we are seeking new volunteers! Below you will find information about the committees, the open volunteer positions, and if the position is onsite, hybrid, or remote. Please refer to The ArQuives’ Volunteer Policy and COVID-19 Policy before applying. All new volunteers must undergo mandatory orientation, training, and follow The ArQuives’ COVID-19 guidelines. Face masks and full vaccinations are mandatory for all onsite work.

Collections and Public Service Committee
Responsible for the library, archival, and artifact collections and assisting researchers during our public service hours. The Collections and Public Service Committee is looking for volunteers who have previous experience processing archival donations, cataloguing library books, photographing artifacts and artwork, and working with researchers. These positions are on-site – no remote positions are available at this time.
Communications Committee
Responsible for the organization’s website, newsletter, social media, and annual report. The Communications Committee is looking for volunteers who are interested in creating content about the collection, including articles and social media posts. These positions are remote, with the possibility of occasional on-site visits.
Community Engagement Committee
Responsible for events, tours, presentations to the public, and conducting research for various projects. The Community Engagement Committee is looking for volunteers who are interested in leading walking tours, giving tours of The ArQuives building, and folks who are interested in assisting with research for programming. These positions are on-site, with limited remote positions available.
Diversity and Inclusion Committee
Responsible for guiding The ArQuives in staff and volunteer training, assisting in creating inclusive and equitable policies and procedures, implementing recommendations from the Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion Plan, the Collection Development Plan, and communicating these initiatives with the LGBTQ2+ community. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee is looking for volunteers who are interested in implementing new policies and training and making The ArQuives more accessible to the LGBTQ2+ community. These positions are remote, with the possibility of occasional on-site visits.
Facilities Committee
Responsible for managing the interior and exterior maintenance of The ArQuives heritage home at 34 Isabella. The Facilities Committee is looking for volunteers who can assist with maintaining the garden, shoveling snow, and general building maintenance. These positions are on-site – no remote positions are available at this time.
Fundraising Committee
Responsible for assisting in raising funds for day-to-day operations and special projects. The fundraising committee is looking for volunteers who can assist with grant and foundation writing, donor stewardship, direct mail, Content Management System, sponsorship, and planned giving. These positions are remote, with the possibility of occasional on-site visits.
