On September 20th we will be launching two of the gems of these collections the Rupert Raj Collection and the Trans Pathfinder Project. Speakers include: Rupert Raj, Prof. Nick Matte (Trans Pathfinder Project), and Prof. Elspeth Brown (LGBTQ Oral History Digital Collaboratory) There will be refreshments and cash bar. Suggested Donation: $5 (No one turned away) Born in 1952, Rupert Raj is a Canadian Eurasian counsellor/psychotherapist, consultant, gender specialist, clinical researcher, educator, professional trainer, writer, editor and trans activist. He is a trailblazing activist who has been paving the way to improve life chances for trans people across Canada, the USA and around the world since 1971, the year of his own gender transition. His collection at The ArQuives, which has been built from 2006 – 2015, profiles the early life of much of early Canadian trans activism since the 1970s.  Limited copies of his book, “Trans Activism in Canada: A Reader,” (co-edited with Prof. Dan Irving) will be available for cash sale. The TransPathfinder Project is a brand-new guide to help researchers and interested community members learn about and find trans archival materials at The ArQuives.  Written by Prof. Nick Matte, it’s one of the products of the LGBTQ Oral History Digitial Collaboratory, a five-year, SSHRCC-funded, multi-institution research project led by Prof. Elspeth Brown.
